OBYN MARIN - the founder of Yoga SRQ describes herself as a reformed, "faster, harder, better girl"…at one time in her life she wanted to be faster, make it harder and be better than not only the other people in the class, but out do herself. In her 20’s she worked out at Jane Fonda’s club in West Los Angeles. In her 30’s she did Tae Bo (kick boxing) eight days a week at Billy Blanks studio in Sherman Oaks, California. Then one day in her 40’s she made a bet with a girl friend that she was not going to like Vinyasa Flow yoga. She lost the bet. It was a ‘love at first sight’ experience. Vinyasa Flow yoga appealed to Robyn’s love of expression through movement. Every time she practiced she felt happy, more like herself, the person she always wanted to be.
- Yoga is a "whole human work-out" that deals with the body and the brain. In 2001 she completed her first Teacher Training, Embodying The Flow with Shiva Rea at Sacred Movement in Venice, California. She’s certified in Vinyasa Krama with Srivastsa Ramaswami and Registered with The Yoga Alliance at the E~RYT 200 Level. Her classes follow the physical template of Vinyasa Flow while applying the philosophy of the eight-limbed path of yoga to the human condition living in the 21st Century.
- This is Robyn's second Yoga Studio. She sold her Southern California studio when she and her husband "quit California" and relocated to Sarasota in the summer of 2009. They have three young adult sons and are loving life in the Sunshine State!
ALEX MARIN - grew up in Los Angeles and has been practicing yoga with his mom and aunt since he was a little kid. An All American Lacrosse Goalie in High School, he loves all sports especially surfing and most recently has a passion for slack-lining.
- He’s been teaching yoga since the summer of 2008. His formal training began with the Yogafit program and later completed a Teacher Training with Erich Schiffmann, a world renowned teacher out of Santa Monica, CA. Being a poor college student in Santa Barbara, he realized that yoga needed to be more accessible to students and began teaching in the local college community, strictly on a donation basis. Often in return for yoga classes Alex received mason jars of home-made hummus, bundles of locally grown fruits and veggies and tune ups on his many bicycles.
- Alex’s classes are both physically and mentally challenging, inspiring his students to delve within and break down the barriers that inhibit them from exploring the truth of their shape. His vibrant music selections will keep you grooving and his serious, light-hearted and fluid approach to yoga will keep you coming back for more.
CHRISTINE NEISLER-Christin Neisler began her journey with yoga while still a student in high school. Yoga had actually found her, and with it she had discovered an instant connection. She began squeezing in yoga classes at 6 am before school started, and continuing this custom into her college years, with numerous classes a week, from a variety of instructors and styles.
Upon returning to Sarasota after graduation, Christin sought out a studio, and continued the advancement of her practice. It was also during this time that she began training in Ballroom Dance, soon finding how one practice closely complemented the other. Yoga benefited her movement, discipline, and helped her in achieving personal expression on a competition floor. As a Dance Professional, her understanding of Biomechanics was at the core of her day-to- day experience, and this knowledge of how the body moves, carries over today to her yoga teaching.
She became YogaAlliance Certified and extended her studies into the areas of Structural Alignment, Therapeutics, Pranayama, Ayurvedics, as well as knowledge and passion for a healthful whole food Diet. She ties all these elements together, harnessing the healing benefits encompassed in the world of yoga, in order to share with others.
With most of her training stemming from the Iyengar and Anusara tradition, Christin’s classes incorporate an alignment based Flow Practice, encouraging grace, strength, focus, and fun.
